Local Only Buckets
For some use cases, you might want to make sure your data never leaves your device.
This means you have no backups, and certainly functionality will not be available, but for some use cases that might be worth the tradeoff.

The Vision: Evolving from local-only buckets to hybrid local + self-controlled cloud storage architecture.
Key Implementation: Allow users to route all MemoryPlug traffic through their existing cloud providers - Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. - while maintaining complete user control over the data pipeline.
The Security Advantage: With end-to-end encryption in transit and at rest, this creates a self-contained sphere of user knowledge that addresses the major privacy concerns around AI memory systems. Users maintain full sovereignty over their data while gaining the benefits of cloud accessibility and sync.

Thanks Jeffery. If we explore this direction, we will be starting with simple local only buckets supported via the browser extension and then might consider evolving to cloud sync. It presents a lot of challenges though with things like search, performance, etc. End to end encryption is I think a better option, you retain cloud benefits but MemoryPlugin cannot read the data. These buckets would not be able to offer smart memory, memory suggestions, memory chat, or other similar features, but it’ll be a worthy tradeoff for many users for the most sensitive data
